Discover Ancient Wonders in Cambodia - 7 days and 6 nights

Starts: Phnom Penh;                                   Ends: Siem Reap
Itinerary:  Phnom Penh / Siem Reap  ;       Duration:  07 Days / 06 Nights

Welcome to the conundrum that is Cambodia: a country with a history both inspiring and depressing, an intoxicating place where the future is waiting to be shaped. Just as Angkor is more than its wat, so too is Cambodia more than its temples. The chaotic, yet charismatic capital of Phnom Penh is a hub of political intrigue, economic vitality and intellectual debate. All too often overlooked by hit-and-run tourists ticking off Angkor on a regional tour, the revitalised city of Siem Reap is finally earning plaudits in its own right. A gorgeous riverside location, a cultural renaissance, and a dining and drinking scene rival the best in the region.

Know Before You Go

Although most of the planning and preparation is taken care of for you, there are still a few things you should know and some details you should take care of to ensure your comfort, safety and peace of mind. Please review the following information before your departure to ensure that any surprises along the way will only be pleasant ones.

Getting Ready to Go

Trip preparation:

A little pre-planning can make your trip go a lot smoother. Several weeks before your trip, make a list of what you will need to take with you. Make sure your personal documents (passports, visas) are in order and that you have enough prescription medications to last through the trip. We suggest that you make photocopies of passports, visas, and any other important travel documents and pack them separately from the originals. Pack a list of medications including dosage and generic names. If you lose the originals while traveling, you'll have copies for easier reporting and replacement. We recommend that you pack a portable alarm clock

Passports and Visas

It is each traveler's responsibility to have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure and a visa if required.

Climate & Clothing

For Cambodia, November to February is the "cool season", which is dry and not too hot (up to about 30C or 85F). In April it gets really hot (40/100 daily, 30/85 at night), but not rainy. Starting around June it gets rainy--and still hot. It rains off and on all the time, so roads are muddy and some areas are impassable, and it stays like that until November, when cool & dry comes.

Time Zone

Cambodia both are 7 hours ahead of GMT

Foreign currencies (but we advise you to bring some US dollar with you no matter where you are traveling from) can be changed at hotels, airports or markets. Commission is generally not charged at the market moneychangers so they tend to be cheaper, than the alternatives. Debit cards can be used at most locations during your Cambodia holiday. There are ATM's in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, mostly at airports and banks in the city centers. Some but not all banks in Cambodia accept major credit cards as do some of the hotels.
