14-Day A Tour Throughout Cambodia and Vietnam

Starts: Phnom Penh;                                    Ends: Hanoi
Itinerary: Phnom Penh / Siem Reap / Ho Chi Minh /  Hoi An / Hue / Hanoi
Duration:  14 Days / 13 Nights

To escape the buzz of millions of motorbikes, head west to the watery landscape of green fields and sleepy villages in the Mekong Delta. Hoi An might weigh you down - but in a good way - you’re bound to add pounds of made-to-order clothing to your luggage. With an estimated 300 to 500 tailors working in this beautiful city, this is fashionista heaven. To feel the intellectual, cultural and spiritual heartbeat of Vietnam, make a stop in the old imperial capital, Hué; home to palaces and pagodas, tombs and temples. In Hanoi, the country’s captivating capital, rise early to watch the city exercise by Hoan Kiem Lake. Then pay your respects in person to Uncle Ho at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. See if you can locate ‘pickled fish street’ in the Old Quarter. Vietnam has it all. Go expecting the unexpected. Be ready for an adventure, as much as a holiday, and Vietnam will deliver.

Know Before You Go

Although most of the planning and preparation is taken care of for you, there are still a few things you should know and some details you should take care of to ensure your comfort, safety and peace of mind. Please review the following information before your departure to ensure that any surprises along the way will only be pleasant ones.

Getting Ready to Go

Trip Preparation:

A little pre-planning can make your trip go a lot smoother. Several weeks before your trip, make a list of what you will need to take with you. Make sure your personal documents (passports, visas) are in order and that you have enough prescription medications to last through the trip. We suggest that you make photocopies of passports, visas, and any other important travel documents and pack them separately from the originals. Pack a list of medications including dosage and generic names. If you lose the originals while traveling, you'll have copies for easier reporting and replacement. We recommend that you pack a portable alarm clock .

Passport and Visa

It is each traveler's responsibility to have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure and a visa if required. Entry Visa to Vietnam is required before entry. The Visa section Tel: 010-65327038

The weather in Vietnam varies depending on your location. The North has four seasons and can get quite cold in winter, with temperatures dropping to 5-6 C, or below zero in the mountainous areas in the North. Central Vietnam is warmer and has two seasons; it is not as humid as the tropics. In the South, the climate is tropical, and the temperature ranges from 25-30C. You can check the weather for when you’re planning to go here. Generally speaking, the dry season starts from Nov. till next year April while the rain season is from June to Oct. The best visiting time is from Nov. till next year Feb., when it is warm and dry

Time Zone

Vietnam and Cambodia both are 7 hours ahead of GMT

Currency information

The Vietnamese currency is the Dong. Cash is best in most places in Vietnam; many small restaurants and shops do not accept credit cards. (However, take care with your cash and do not show it in the open street if you can help it.) You could also use traveler’s cheques; these can be cashed at major banks in the large towns.

Currency Exchange Rates: USD1.00 = VND21,015 (2011)
Note: These currency exchange rates are not updated daily and should be used as a guideline only

Electricity

The electricity in Vietnam is 220 volts, 50 cycles/sec

Water Quality

Do not drink tap water. We strongly suggest you buy bottled water in Vietnam and bottled water is available at general stores across the country

Making Telephone Calls from One Country to Another

When dialing a number from one country to another, you should proceed as follows: dial your country's Exit Code + destination Country Code + Phone Number.

For most countries, the exit code is 00. Exceptions include the USA and Canada (011), Hong Kong (001), Australia (0011), and Russia (8 Pause 10*). For Brazil, please consult with the local telephone company. If the international number you wish to call starts with a 0 (zero), you must drop this starting digit when dialing the number.
